Six Tips to Reduce the Stress Hormone, Cortisol
|
|
If you listen to the range of complaints that people suffer from coffee drinking, you can’t help but wonder how can coffee have so many toxic effects on the body? When I began marketing Teeccino in 1995, I collected from our early customers a list of symptoms relieved from quitting coffee that was extraordinary in its variety and diversity. I thought the reason coffee hadn’t been targeted for its health consequences, unlike tobacco, was that its effects couldn’t be specifically pinpointed like cancer of the lungs caused by smoking.
I was wrong. Stephen Cherniske in 1998 published his landmark book, Caffeine Blues, that attributed the effects of caffeine to its stimulation of the adrenal glands to produce cortisol, the body’s foremost stress hormone. After the publication of Caffeine Blues, studies about cortisol, its relationship to caffeine, and the long term consequences of elevated cortisol to one’s health proved Cherniske’s theories to be absolutely correct. The recent publication of The Cortisol Connection by Shawn Talbott, PH.D., provides an even stronger picture of what happens in the body when you live awash in cortisol.
I’d like to share with you the 7 foremost effects that caffeine and the elevation of cortisol trigger in your body. Best of all, you’ll find 6 tips on the easiest ways to reduce cortisol that are designed to help you create the conditions to promote optimal health.

Herbal Tip: Cilantro Removes Heavy Metals
|
|
We are all exposed to heavy metals such as mercury, lead, and aluminum through the food we eat, the air we breathe, and the medical treatments we undergo. These heavy metals have long range toxic effects in our bodies that can weaken our immune systems, produce neurological disturbances and effect our brain, cardiovascular system and sexual organs. Fortunately nature has provided us with an inexpensive and delicious way to rid ourselves of these heavy metals that is available right in the produce section or farmer’s market where you shop!

"It has been shown that drinking just two cups of coffee can increase levels of the stress hormone cortisol. An elevation of this hormone can have adverse effects on the immune system, brain cells, sugar metabolism and weight gain. In addition, coffee drinking has been reported to cause increased body fat. Although it is not clear why coffee affects weight gain, clinical studies show that by reducing coffee intake, body fat goes down."

"Dear Ms. MacDougall,
I recently placed my first order after reading about Teeccino in the Fat Flush book. However, I did not expect some "mild mannered tea" to serve as an adequate, much less enjoyable, replacement for my morning gourmet coffee at the local cafe. Thus, I hesitantly ordered one can.
And then I tried it. And I was so floored, I had to take a moment to let you know.
I am now ordering multiple cans for both my home pantry and my office. I am SO impressed with the rich, smooth flavor of these absolutely wonderful drinks! The aroma of my morning cup of vanilla nut instantly puts me in a good mood, and I feel fantastic about finding such a healthy alternative without having to give up on one of my daily pleasures. Not to mention saving almost $4.00/day on those "gourmet" drinks I thought I couldn't live without!
Thank you, and count me in with your undoubtedly long list of devoted customers who'll be back again and again.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Maciel

Is there caffeine in the natural coffee flavor in Teeccino?
Flavor houses extract the flavor components from all natural ingredients in order to create natural flavors. In the case of Hazelnut flavor, the flavor is extracted from a hazelnut paste and other nut pastes. In the case of coffee flavor, the components of coffee flavor are extracted from a number of ingredients that include both coffee, chicory and even, believe it not, garlic! Who would imagine that coffee and garlic share the same flavor component?
The expertise of flavor chemists allows them to use natural ingredients to derive flavors without getting all the components of each source. Thus it is possible to produce coffee flavor without caffeine, which in any case doesn’t contribute to the flavor of coffee. Watch out though for coffee flavored ice cream, yogurt, etc. because these foods usually contain a coffee concentrate or even ground coffee beans that do have caffeine.
I make sure that the flavors we use are completely natural and don't contain harmful ingredients like propylene glycol, a petroleum product that is added to many food and skin care products, or MSG, preservatives, etc.
