Quitting Caffeine Painlessly
Caffeine is an addictive drug and quitting it can be difficult! Many people’s lifestyle habits are built around the ritual of morning cups of coffee plus the afternoon pick-me-up cup. Painful and debilitating withdrawal symptoms can keep the habitual coffee drinker from following through with the best of intentions to quit coffee. Pounding morning withdrawal headaches can propel coffee drinkers back to the coffee cup to get respite. The good news is: 64% of Teeccino customers who no longer drink coffee have used Teeccino’s Kick The Caffeine Habit Program to successfully quit coffee. You can follow this program and be successful too!
Avoiding Caffeine Withdrawal Symptoms
Caffeine causes a number of withdrawal symptoms and their severity depends on your personal health and sensitivities. Caffeine withdrawal headaches can be incapacitating. Often they are accompanied by fatigue as your body starts to recuperate from its former caffeine-driven pace.
Many people experience decreased energy and activeness during caffeine withdrawal accompanied by decreased alertness, drowsiness and sleepiness. Withdrawing from caffeine may require you to plan for more sleep hours or afternoon naps until your adrenal glands have recovered.
Since caffeine artificially increases cortisol production, the hormone that makes you wake up in the morning, people withdrawing from caffeine can experience a hard time waking up without coffee as a stimulant. Brain fogginess, inability to concentrate and feelings of decreased well-being including irritability and depression are frequently experienced when withdrawing from caffeine, making people want to reach for another cup of coffee to feel like themselves again. Some people even report feeling flu-like symptoms, muscle pain and even vomiting, but by following Teeccino’s Kick The Caffeine Habit Program, most people avoid having to experience any of these withdrawal symptoms.
It may interest you to know why you get a headache when you skip your morning cup. Caffeine acts as powerful vasoconstrictor in the brain. That is, it constricts blood vessels in the brain and decreases circulation. Oxygen to the brain can be decreased up to 30%! When caffeine is not present, the sudden increased circulation causes headaches.
While this phenomenon keeps millions of people addicted to the caffeine habit, the good news is that you can avoid this pitfall by slowly weaning yourself off caffeine over a two to three week period. Your body’s natural rhythm of morning cortisol production to help you wake up and be alert will be reestablished also and sleep patterns will return to normal. Many former coffee drinkers report that they can’t believe how much energy they have once they recover from the caffeine-driven roller coaster ride!
Kick The Caffeine Habit Program
The goal of Teeccino’s Kick The Caffeine Habit Program is to help you gradually wean yourself off of caffeine giving your body enough time to adjust to less and less caffeine daily. This gradual withdrawal from caffeine will help you avoid the unpleasant symptoms caused by a sudden precipitous drop in caffeine intake.
The program is based on blending Teeccino with your regular coffee in gradual amounts over a two to three week period that can be adjusted on an individual basis. If you want to drink ready-to-go brewed coffee at a café or at the office, we recommend you carry a thermos of brewed Teeccino that you can blend with coffee in the cup. Additionally, to make it easy to brew Teeccino when you’re on the go, we offer a number of brewing options including the One-Cup Brewer and Mini Minit One-Cup Filters that make it easy to brew Teeccino one cup at a time.
Start by mixing your normal coffee 3/4 to 1/4 Teeccino Caffeine-free Herbal Coffee. Gradually reduce the percentage of your coffee over a two to three week period until you are drinking 100% Teeccino. You should be able to avoid the headaches and also gradually adjust your body to less reliance on stimulants.

Helpful Herbal Tonics and Nutritional Supplements
Herbal tonics that help rebuild adrenal health can help you restore your natural energy more quickly. Siberian Ginseng (Eleutherococcus senticosus) and Panax Ginseng (Panax ginseng or quinquefolius) traditionally combined with licorice are considered adrenal tonics. Both are classified as adaptogens, herbs that increase resistance to stress, whether the cause is physical, chemical or biological, and normalize physical systems by strengthening the immune system, the nervous system and the glandular system. Adaptogens enhance the body’s ability to recover and may be taken on a continuous basis without causing any harm. Other adaptogens that can be of help to weakened adrenals are astragalus, schizandra berries, and ashwagandha.
You might also consider some herbs to help detoxify the liver, kidneys and bowels. Milk thistle, or the extract Silymarin from milk thistle, is a proven liver protective herb that prevents the entrance of liver toxins into the interior of liver cells. It also stimulates the regenerative ability of the liver and increases the formation of new liver cells. Since the liver’s job is to detoxify drugs and caffeine, your liver will work more efficiently once it is no longer taxed by detoxifying caffeine.
Burdock root and dandelion root both stimulate the gallbladder and increase bile production. Both are diuretics and along with parsley and uva ursi can help detoxify the kidneys.
Many people use caffeine as a laxative in the morning and need help reestablishing normal bowel movement. Teeccino with its rich inulin content can usually accomplish this task alone since inulin supports the bifidobacteria in the colon and helps form a soft stool. If more assistance is needed, a bulk fiber such as psyllium seeds or hemp will gently promote normal bowel function and can even help reduce cholesterol!
Remember to drink more water - at least 8 cups per day - during this detoxification period.
To counteract brain fogginess in the first month or so of quitting caffeine, try a bioenergetic supplement coupled with some herbal extracts including gotu kola and gingko biloba to help clear that fog and restore your normal brain clarity. Nutritional supplements that support adrenal health are the B vitamins and in particular pantothenic acid (B-5). Co-Q10, chromium, potassium and magnesium aspartate can help provide a real energy boost by increasing metabolic efficiency rather than stimulating the nervous system like caffeine does. This approach can be likened to feeding the horse rather than just whipping it.
Beware of products parading as energy uppers that simply contain more harmful stimulants. Many of them depend on caffeine from lesser known sources such as guarana, kola nut, and yerba mate, or ephedrine from Ma Huang.
